One error message states: “Your access to Snapchat is temporarily disabled due to repeated unsuccessful attempts or other unusual activity.” This has only added to the confusion, leaving users wondering if the problem is just a temporary glitch or something specific to their accounts.
The main culprit appears to be a widespread AWS outage, which is also affecting other major platforms like Fortnite, Roblox, Coinbase, and Ring. Since Amazon Web Services powers a huge chunk of the internet, any hiccup can send shockwaves through various services — and Snapchat is no exception. Another false claim suggests that Snapchat will work without Wi-Fi if users forward a message to 20 people — which is clearly untrue and misleading.
As of now, Snapchat hasn’t released an official statement about the outage or addressed the fake messages. Users are encouraged to steer clear of sharing unverified texts and to keep an eye out for updates from Snapchat’s official channels.
