OpenAI Launches ChatGPT App Store—Build & Publish Your Apps Inside ChatGPT

Developers can now create and publish apps directly within ChatGPT thanks to OpenAI’s official launch of a brand-new App Store. With this change, ChatGPT becomes a complete ecosystem where interactive apps can flourish, rather than merely a chatbot.

Developers can create chat-native experiences with the new Apps SDK, which is presently in beta. Through the addition of new features, actions, and integrations, these apps can prolong conversations. Without ever leaving ChatGPT, users could, for instance, make presentations, order groceries, or even look for apartments.

Developers can use the OpenAI Developer Platform to submit their applications, monitor the approval process, and see their apps in the new App Directory found in ChatGPT’s tools menu after they are accepted. Many in the tech community already refer to this directory as the “ChatGPT App Store.”

Expedia, Spotify, Zillow, and Canva were among the major platforms with which OpenAI had previously announced partnerships that would enable users to access these services directly within ChatGPT conversations. Now that the App Store is open, a much larger developer community has access to the opportunity, which promotes participation and innovation.

The goal of this project is to increase ChatGPT’s functionality and turn it into a center for daily tasks, productivity, and creativity. OpenAI is hinting at a time when ChatGPT will evolve from a chatbot into a platform for both developers and users by allowing third-party apps.

In order to participate in this expanding ecosystem, developers are urged to begin creating and submitting apps while the App Store is still in beta.
