Rawalpindi: The Green Shirts put on a strong show in Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI, defeating the Lankans by eight wickets to take a commanding 0–2 series lead. The second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka undoubtedly demonstrated Pakistan’s bowling discipline and batting prowess, guaranteeing the series victory prior to the final game.

Sri Lanka set a target of 289 runs when they batted first. At 98 runs, they lost four wickets in their early collapse. Samara Wickrama scored 42 runs, while Janith Liyanage and Wickrama added 61 runs for the fifth wicket. Mendis contributed 44 runs, and Liyanage played a steady knock of 54. Wanindu Hasaranga helped Sri Lanka reach 288 for 8 with 37 runs in the last overs, remaining undefeated.

Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf, both from Pakistan’s bowling side, each claimed three wickets, which kept Sri Lanka under pressure all through the innings.

Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub put up a 77-run opening partnership as Pakistan got off to a fast start in pursuit of the target. Fakhar Zaman contributed 78 runs, and Saim Ayub scored 33 before being out.

Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam then anchored the chase. With an outstanding 102, Babar Azam tied the record for the most ODI hundreds scored by a batsman from Pakistan. With an undefeated 51, Rizwan provided support. With just two wickets lost, they led Pakistan to victory in the 49th over.

Salman Ali Agha captained the team today instead of Shaheen Shah Afridi. Pakistan has already won the series 2–0 with this victory. The series will come to an end on November 16 with the third and final ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
