Taking advantage of growing investor interest in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expedited the Multan Sultans PSL 11 sale.
After owner Ali Tareen decided not to extend his seven-year affiliation, citing disagreements with league management, the team was placed under temporary PCB management.
The PCB will now auction Multan Sultans prior to the forthcoming season in response to the high demand during the most recent PSL 11 franchise auction for Hyderabad and Sialkot. An official advertisement will be used to invite eligible bidders.
The open bidding structure used in prior sales will be applied to this one. An early sale, according to officials, will optimise value and provide a timely financial boost.
Teams will have time to finalise their squads before the PSL 11 players’ draft on January 30. The Multan Sultans PSL 11 sale is anticipated to draw competitive bids due to the high level of interest from both domestic and foreign investors.
PSL 11 now has eight teams, including Hyderabad and Sialkot, which increases the league’s commercial appeal.
