used car import policy in Pakistan

The government is considering changes to the used car import policy in Pakistan. According to sources, the Personal Baggage Scheme may be removed, while the Gift Scheme and Transfer of Residence Scheme could become stricter.

A summary has been prepared by the Ministry of Commerce and sent to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC). It recommends ending the Personal Baggage Scheme and tightening rules for the other two schemes to prevent misuse.

Senior officials confirmed that several proposals are under review to control the import of used vehicles. The final decision will be made by the ECC.

These changes aim to improve transparency and reduce loopholes in the import process.
