Muzaffarabad, AJK: Referring to students as Pakistan’s real future, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally introduced the Youth Laptop Program at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK). According to him, laptops are more than just devices; they are instruments that give young people access to information, international opportunities, and the digital economy.
PM Shehbaz told tales of students who overcame obstacles and developed prosperous careers by using laptops from previous programs. He commended Generation Z for being more aware and tech-savvy than earlier generations.
He counseled students to refrain from disseminating false information and to use digital platforms sensibly. He stated, “Educated youth must help people understand what’s true and what’s false.”
PM Shehbaz refuted claims that laptop programs are political giveaways, stating that laptops are always awarded on the basis of merit. He also mentioned how laptops allowed students to continue their education from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the Prime Minister unveiled new AJK education initiatives. Among them are:
- Four Danish Schools in different districts
- A proposed Danish University focused on technology
- Revival of the Education Endowment Fund to offer scholarships for talented but underprivileged students from AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and other regions—even for studies abroad
Federal Minister Ameer Muqam thanked the Prime Minister for his support. UAJK Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Jamal Khattak said better access to technology will improve research and learning.
AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore’s Remarks
The Youth Laptop Program and new educational initiatives, according to AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, demonstrate the federal government’s faith in Kashmiri youth. These programs will enable Azad Jammu & Kashmir students to compete on a national and international scale, he continued.
