Mirpur (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – APP – May 19, 2025) President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that we prostrate ourselves in the presence of Allah Almighty for granting the Pakistani Army a grand victory in Operation “Banyan Marsus”.
This battle was not just a war but a clash of right and wrong, where the Pakistan Army not only defeated an enemy ten times larger in numbers but also crushed its war madness and arrogance. The solution of the Kashmir issue has become indispensable for the establishment of lasting peace in South Asia.
He expressed these views while addressing a reception as the chief guest on the occasion of the Thanksgiving Day on the glorious victory in Operation Banyan Marsus at the residence of former President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Javed Iqbal.
Former President Mirpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Javed Iqbal, Chairman District Council Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga, Mayor Mirpur Chaudhry Usman Khalid, President Mirpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Umar Shahzad, former President District Bar Association Chaudhry Shakeel Zaman Advocate, Chairman Zakat Council Chaudhry Siddique and others were also present on this occasion.
He said that this victory is the testimony of the blood of our martyrs and the fruit of the prayers of those mothers who shed their blood for this red homeland, the Pakistani army gave a befitting reply to the enemy’s aggression, the magnificent victory in Operation Banyan Marsus is a manifestation of the courage of the army and the sacrifices of the martyrs, we will celebrate a week of gratitude for the historic victory in the battle of Operation Banyan Marsus, in this regard, a day of gratitude will be held in Kotli district on June 1, I will personally attend this ceremony.
Azad Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India is a welcome development, however, for lasting peace in the region, it is necessary to give the ongoing talks a tripartite format. US President Donald Trump’s offer of mediation on the Kashmir issue is a positive signal, which has drawn the attention of the international community to this burning issue. Kashmir is not a regional dispute but an issue of human rights and freedom struggle, which has become inevitable to be resolved through the awakening of global conscience and serious diplomatic efforts.
Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry further said that while I am trying to highlight the Kashmir issue at the global level, I also continue to struggle to solve the problems of the people of the state. Most of the problems of Mirpur have been solved. The completion of the Rathua Haryam Bridge is in full swing. I have inaugurated the parking plaza project. That project will be completed soon.
Former President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Javed Iqbal said that I will play my role to resolve the issues faced by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry immediately. Establishment of a business center in Mirpur under the CPEC project and establishment of the Mirpur-Muzaffarabad-Mansehra motorway are among my top priorities. I inaugurated the dry port in Mirpur. 80 percent of the work on this project has been completed. Establishment of an international airport in Mirpur is a long-standing demand of the people of Mirpur. In this regard, work on the feasibility report of the international airport has started with our efforts.
