legislative assemblyThe political climate in Azad Kashmir has changed significantly since two prominent individuals declared their intention to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Brigadier (R) Muhammad Khan of Central Bagh and Raja Saqib Majeed, chief organizer of the All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference and former legislative assembly candidate, have formally joined PML-N.
Amir Muqam, the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, was the chief guest at the joining ceremony, which took place at Jammu & Kashmir House in Islamabad. Along with dozens of party employees and supporters, senior leaders such as Shah Ghulam Qadir (President PML-N AJK), former Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, and former Minister Raja Mushtaq Minhas graced the occasion.
Both leaders formally announced their decision to join the PML-N and expressed complete faith in the party’s leadership during the ceremony. This action, which strengthens the PML-N’s position ahead of impending elections, has been described by observers as a significant political shift in Azad Kashmir.
Raja Saqib Majeed is from the Khawra constituency (LA-5) in Muzaffarabad, which is well-known for its difficult electoral contests. Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar currently represents this seat, which will make future contests even more intriguing. The addition of Brigadier (R) Muhammad Khan from Bagh strengthens the PML-N’s organizational power in the area.
Political analysts believe these developments highlight growing trust in PML‑N’s vision and leadership, while also signaling a reshaping of alliances in AJK politics.
