A major political shift has taken place in Kotli City, where Raja Fateh Mahmood (PMLN) scored what many are calling a “sixer” in Union Council Sarotha. The development has sent a 220‑volt shock to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as one of its oldest and strongest groups has decided to part ways after decades of loyalty.
The Gorsi Brothers and Family formally announced their decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League (N), which is led by young assembly candidate Raja Fateh Mahmood, along with hundreds of supporters and dozens of households. With this action, a 60-year affiliation with PPP comes to an end, and Mahmood’s leadership is once again seen favorably.
A sizable crowd expressed faith in Raja Fateh Mahmood’s vision at the announcement, which was made at Aamir Iqbal Gorsi’s home in Kohmar, Gujaran. Senior PML-N leaders, such as Chaudhry Sabir Kohmarvi, who was instrumental in enabling this historic inclusion, attended the event.
Supporters stressed that their choice was motivated by their desire for development and justice in the mountain belt area, which they feel has been neglected for many years. They said they were confident that Raja Fateh Mahmood’s leadership would address the region’s long-standing problems and bring about significant change.
In the constituency of Kotli City, this political realignment is regarded as a turning point. Such a sizable group switching sides, according to analysts, could have a big effect on the next elections, strengthening the PML-N’s position while undermining the PPP’s traditional base. Raja Fateh Mahmood is becoming a formidable candidate and changing Kotli City’s political scene with increasing momentum and new backing.
