Punjab toll plazas digitalization 2025

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has given the green light to an exciting new initiative aimed at fully digitalizing all toll plazas in the province, effectively putting an end to the old slip system. During a high-level meeting led by the Chief Minister, it was decided to roll out the Motorway-style Pron App One system across 38 electronic toll plazas in Punjab, a move designed to boost transparency and efficiency.

The meeting also took a closer look at the progress of various projects from the Communication & Works (C&W) department and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) throughout the province. In a significant step towards modernizing Punjab’s infrastructure, a public-private partnership model was approved for the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of five major roads.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that Punjab has achieved an impressive saving of Rs 40 billion thanks to the implementation of e-tendering, setting a new standard for cost efficiency in public works. CM Maryam Nawaz also called for the installation of solar lights on all newly constructed roads and gave the thumbs up for beautification projects in Lahore to enhance the city’s charm.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted that 54 major bridges, 142 smaller bridges, and 858 flood-affected roads have been successfully restored, showcasing the government’s swift recovery efforts following recent natural disasters. This move to digitalize toll plazas is a crucial part of Maryam Nawaz’s vision for a smart and transparent Punjab, blending technology with governance to improve public service delivery.
