After receiving 36 votes in the Legislative Assembly, Faisal Rathore, the 16th prime minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, formally assumed office. Following a successful no-confidence motion, the election confirmed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) now controls the region under Faisal Rathore Prime Minister of AJK.
Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore is the son of the late Raja Mumtaz Hussain Rathore, a respected former Prime Minister of AJK. Known for his political legacy and strong grassroots connection, Faisal Rathore began his journey in Haveli and rose through the ranks with dedication and party loyalty.
With the backing of 37 lawmakers, his election signifies the return of PPP leadership in Azad Kashmir. Despite supporting the motion, the PML-N declined to join the cabinet. The Muzaffarabad session was chaired by Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar.
