With the goal of revolutionizing travel to one of Pakistan’s most well-liked tourist destinations, the Punjab government has announced an ambitious plan to start a Glass Train from Islamabad to Murree. The project offers stunning views of the hills and contemporary amenities for visitors and locals alike.

The Glass Train Islamabad to Murree project’s preliminary evaluation is expected to be finished by April 30, 2025, according to the Punjab Transport Department. The route will start at Islamabad’s Margalla Railway Station and travel to either Bhurban or Patriata in Murree. Authorities are currently examining financial costs, station locations, and land requirements.

The train project is anticipated to be finished within the next two years, according to Murree National Assembly member Raja Usama Ashfaq Sarwar. He affirmed that its development will be jointly supervised by the Punjab Transport Department and the Ministry of Railways.

National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) has been assigned by the government to produce a comprehensive analytical report by April 30, 2025. Surveys are being conducted to finalize land allocation, the route, station locations, and cost estimates, according to Punjab Mass Transit Director Muhammad Wajid.

With stops at Bastal Mor, Ghora Gali, Galiyat, Kashmir Point, and either Patriata or Bhurban, the train will travel 65 kilometers from Islamabad to Murree. When finished, the scenic railway is anticipated to become a popular tourist destination, improving access to the hill stations of Murree and bolstering Pakistan’s tourism sector.
