Bank of AJ&K Chairman Appointment
The appointment of AJK Finance Minister Chaudhry Qasim Majeed as the new chairman of the Bank of AJ&K was approved by President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry in Muzaffarabad. This decision validates the new leadership and revokes the previous announcement made on October 30, 2023. Qasim Majeed has officially taken the oath of office as Chairman with this approval.
Legal & Administrative Context
In order to ensure adherence to legal requirements and enhance government involvement in the bank’s operations, the appointment was made in accordance with Section 12 of the Bank of AJ&K Act 2005.
Transition from Previous Leadership
Former Finance Minister Abdul Majeed Khan previously held the position and implemented a number of reforms. Expectations are now high for improved operations and increased transparency under Qasim Majeed’s direction.
Vision Ahead
Qasim Majeed promised to advance financial transparency, update the bank’s policies, and put investors’ and clients’ interests first. Additionally, he called on board members and employees to collaborate for Azad Jammu & Kashmir’s economic growth.
