As Azad Jammu & Kashmir gears up for the 2026 general elections, the Election Commission is making significant strides toward transparency and modernization. Teaming up with NADRA and the AJK IT Board, they’ve rolled out the Centralized Electoral Roll System (CERS) — a cutting-edge platform aimed at simplifying voter registration and verification.
Thanks to this digital initiative, voters in AJK can now check their registration status by just sending their CNIC number via SMS to 8302. In a matter of seconds, they’ll receive a confirmation with their voter details, constituency, and serial number — making the whole process quicker, easier, and more accessible than ever.
The launch event, led by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Abdul Rashid Sulehria, brought together key players from NADRA and the IT Board. This tri-party agreement marks a pivotal moment in AJK’s electoral journey, with the goal of eliminating duplicate entries, ghost voters, and outdated records. Secretary Muhammad Ghazanfar Khan highlighted that this system will pave the way for free, fair, and transparent elections, empowering citizens to take charge of their democratic rights.
The initiative has garnered widespread praise from civil society and political analysts, who view it as a crucial step toward rebuilding public trust in the electoral process. With voter registration now just a text away, the Election Commission encourages all eligible citizens to verify their status and make sure their vote counts in 2026.
