Pakistan Muslim League (N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s PMLN’s AJK General Secretary Chaudhry Tariq Farooq has emphasized the critical role of party workers in ensuring success in upcoming elections. In his media statement, the PMLN’s AJK General Secretary emphasized that workers must set aside regional and factional differences to strengthen the party and ensure its victory.

Tariq Farooq emphasized that the PML-N will actively oppose the newly elected PPP government in the legislative assembly while simultaneously highlighting its shortcomings. He pointed out that in the past, decisions were made without wider consultation due to a lack of coordination between the parliamentary party and organizational structure.

He insisted that there should be more than just symbolic changes brought about by the recent change in government. The previous administration’s retaliatory actions ought to be undone, and reforms ought to cover districts and divisions in addition to the secretariat. Farooq cautioned that the public might turn against the current rulers if merit-based violations of the past were ignored.

Tariq Farooq urged Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, the son of seasoned politician Mumtaz Hussain Rathore, to respect his father’s political legacy and concentrate on resolving public issues through institutional channels. He bemoaned the political parties’ limited ability to address fundamental public issues, which made room for non-political organizations like the Joint Public Action Committee.

Additionally, Tariq Farooq highlighted the Prime Minister’s inaugural speech’s shortcomings and emphasized the urgency of filling open constitutional positions like Chief Election Commissioner, Senior Member, and judges in the higher judiciary. Referencing a recent High Court ruling that needs to be fully implemented, he demanded transparency in third-party evaluations across government agencies, including the lower judiciary. He added that in order to guarantee merit, appointments to civil judges should go through the Public Service Commission.

In his reflections on previous administrations, Farooq denounced coalition governments in AJK as detrimental to administrative stability and political culture. He claimed that a strong opposition is essential to the continuation of democracy and that history has demonstrated improved governance when a single-party government coexists with a robust opposition.

PML-N Azad Jammu and Kashmir also congratulated the party’s central leadership and winning candidates on their outstanding wins in the by-elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The statement claims that Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s unwavering efforts, strong leadership, and ideological commitment are responsible for this historic achievement. While candidates ran tenacious and resilient campaigns that resulted in remarkable victories for the party, the public expressed complete confidence in the performance of the federal and Punjab governments. The central leadership and all of the winning candidates received heartfelt congratulations from the PML-N AJK leadership.
