The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Thursday that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purchase of Pakistan’s JF‑17 Thunder fighter jet, which attracted international attention at the Dubai Airshow 2025, was signed with a friendly country.
The MoU was praised by ISPR as a “significant milestone” in Pakistan’s expanding defense and industrial cooperation, pointing out that growing interest in the JF-17 is a sign of international trust in Pakistan’s aviation industry.
The announcement was made at the same time that military leaders from a number of allies met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff. Conversations centered on:
- Expanding cooperation in advanced training
- Joint work on emerging aerospace technologies
- Strengthening operational coordination mechanisms
UAE Praises PAF Modernisation
The Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) modernization efforts and expanding domestic capabilities were praised by the UAE leadership. At the Dubai Airshow, Pakistan’s delegation displayed:
- The latest JF‑17 Thunder Block‑III
- The Super Mushshak trainer aircraft
Proven Combat Performance
Because of its involvement in Marka-e-Haq, Pakistan’s reaction to Indian aggression in May, the JF-17 Block-III has gained credibility.
- The aircraft used hypersonic missiles to neutralize India’s S-400 air defense system in Adampur.
- Over 20 Indian military locations were successfully targeted during the four-day battle.
Pakistani civilians and security personnel were killed in India’s strikes on May 5 and 6, which New Delhi claimed were directed at “terrorist targets.”
