Islamabad: The Prime Minister of Pakistan has given the green light for a drop in petroleum product prices, offering some much-needed relief to the public. As per the official announcement, petrol prices have been slashed by Rs 5.66 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs 263.02 per litre.
In a similar vein, the cost of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been lowered by Rs 1.39 per litre, now sitting at Rs 275.41 per litre. Kerosene oil has also seen a price cut of Rs 3.26 per litre, reducing it to Rs 181.71 per litre, while light diesel oil (LDO) has dropped by Rs 2.74 per litre, now priced at Rs 162.76 per litre.
This decision by the government to lower fuel prices comes in response to a fall in global oil prices and aims to ease the financial strain on citizens already grappling with inflation. Economists are optimistic that this price reduction will positively influence transport fares and the prices of essential goods throughout the country.
