To give the education system in Punjab enough strength, the School Education Department has formally extended the summer break for all public and private schools from August 14 to August 31, 2025. The students are expected to join schools on An official notification declaring the extension was issued on August 7, 2025, thereby revising the reopening date from August 14.
The District Education Authorities (DEAs) are strictly bound to implement the revised schedule. While specific reasons were not formally provided, the extension comes at a time when heavy monsoon rains and extreme weather conditions are evident throughout the province.
The All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSA) has refused to concede the extension on the grounds that continued closures disrupt learning while seriously damaging the preparations for board exams. The revised academic calendar might bring changes in the other school years, but so far no official updates have been shared.
The extended summer break highlights safety concerns for students safety amid volatile weather but raises concerns from educators and parents about its potential impact on academic continuity and exam readiness.
